HHF October News and Open Farm Day

Greetings from Harding Hill Farm,

It's been awhile folks! We apologize for the lapse in blog posts and activity on social media this year. I'd like to blame it to our painfully slow internet... yes we can still only get satellite access! However, it really is more about the crazy juggle of family, farm, and business responsibilities.  I just finished reading 'Good Night Farm' and tucked in our little boy - who is 14 months old now, how did that happen?! So here I sit on a rainy night with our Acer dog at my feet, ready to fill you in on all the farm happenings. With a glass of wine in hand, I'm staying motivated!

First and foremost, visit us at the farm this Saturday for our Fall Open Farm Day! We are open to the public from 10am till 3pm on the main farm located at 524 Stagecoach Road. You'll have the opportunity to see our Belted Galloway cattle up close, enjoy the farm views, and chat about our new sugarhouse build. We have a full supply of homegrown grass fed beef and maple syrup available for sale. Also a limited supply of Bourbon Barrel Aged Syrup too! We're featuring a sale on ground beef - $6.50 per pound OR $6.00 per pound if you purchase 10 pounds or more. To sweeten the deal, I'll have some farm fresh snacks as well. Please like and share our HHF Open Farm Day Event on Facebook, and stop by on Saturday.

HHF Sugarhouse Update

As you may have read in our Spring Newsletter, our maple operation is MOVING to the corner of Stagecoach Road and NH Route 103 to kick off the 2020 season. The Webb family has spent 50 wonderful years in the historic sugarhouse on the Johnson family property each spring. This year, we made the decision to move forward with a long awaited dream to build a new sugarhouse on our own property.

You can find our sugarhouse build on the corner of Stagecoach Road and NH Route 103, just down the hill from the main farm. Through late spring and early summer, we worked diligently on the planning and permitting process to get this project underway. We cleared a patch of woods between the old railroad tracks (now snowmobile trail) and Route 103. The site has great visibility from the main roads, snowmobile access, and is a quick walk/ride from our main farm. The downside - minimal maple trees! We've always trucked in most of our maple sap from other owned forestland, so that doesn't change things much for us. Ideally, we will get some sugar maples planted so the next generation can have more taps on site.

Our site work was time consuming, but finally reached completion in August. In September, the post and beam structure started going up! Stay tuned for more pictures and updates as it gets further along in construction.

Firewood Availability

We have green firewood available for $255 per cord. Firewood orders are cut, split and delivered locally. We will quote you a delivery charge for longer distances. Seasoned firewood is NOT available at this time. Email or call if interested in placing an order.

Tree Care Services

Our crew is busy as ever offering quality tree care services to the Sunapee region. Tyler is working through the backlog of projects. If you have a job in mind, feel free to contact him for a free consultation. Tyler is a certified arborist offering pruning, removals, fertilization, and cabling. Any new contracts are booking out into November, weather permitting. We work on contracted jobs until our first snow. Any jobs left on the waiting list will be scheduled for Spring 2020. We like to leave a property looking its best, and once snow hits... its quite difficult to clean up debris and sawdust. We take pride in quality tree care that leaves your property looking its best!

Once again, we would love to see all of you THIS SATURDAY for our Open Farm Day from 10am till 3pm. You can also contact us any time for farm product price lists, availability, and options for pickup.

Enjoy the leaf peeping, because its only 79 days until Christmas! Our wood-fired, delicious maple syrup makes a great gift. We also do customized glass bottles for local businesses, weddings, and special events. If you have an idea in mind, ask for a quote!
