The Transition of Seasons

Greetings from the Farm!

I know my cover photo on this blog post is deceiving, but its an effort to remain hopeful for spring flowers and green pastures. Today’s words of wisdom are “the farmer has to be an optimist, or he wouldn’t still be a farmer” - Will Rogers.

It seems a bit ironic that I write this on Mother’s Day weekend while the snow piles up outside and a cold wind blows. It reminds me of the snow we got three years ago on the same weekend. That year, our fruit trees were in bloom already, adding to the insult. This year’s storm has a ferocious, cold wind, but we will get through it. Pretty soon we’ll be eating bountiful asparagus from the farm garden and planting flowers. The spring snow will soon be forgotten.

Dear Mother Nature, please bring back some warm sunshine. Thanks!

Some Mother’s Day weather we would rather forget. These poor fruit trees were already in bloom!

We can’t let you run out of Maple syrup

Did you miss us this Maple Season? We missed you too. With that in mind, we are offering several ways to get you some of our delicious, wood-fired Maple Syrup. Start by visiting our website for a list of prices and availability. If you’re local, you can place an order for curbside pickup or delivery. We started a Harding Hill Farm shipping program so all our fans around the country to access some liquid gold.

Here are a few important things to know about our shipping program.

  • Syrup is heavy. We are constantly researching the cheapest way to ship out our product. We will give you feedback based on your order request. In most cases, USPS flat rate boxes are the best way to go.

  • If you're concerned about shipping cost, consider ordering more volume less frequently to lower the cost per bottle on shipping. Also consider combining your order with the needs of local friends and family.

  • We are a small business that does more than just Maple Syrup. Due to time constraints, we ship all orders out once a week on Thursday mornings

Green Firewood Available Now

Now that maple season is behind us, we’ve transitioned into firewood production and deliveries. Green firewood is available at $255 per cord – cut, split, and delivered locally.

Try not to wait too long - we sell out every year! Send us an email or give us a call to get on the list. Don’t forget to include your address. We will let you know if you are out of our range and estimate a shipping charge. If you get your firewood during this time of social distancing, you might have a bit of extra time at home to get that wood perfectly stacked for next season. Share your pictures with us!

Calving Season at Harding Hill

At the end of April, we welcomed our first calf of the year at Harding Hill. Our little lady Liberty joined us on April 27th. Ms. Monroe was born three days later – a beautiful silver dun calf, followed by Madison on May 4th. Three heifer calves in a week – it was a bit crazy around here!

Some of you may not know our naming theme. We originally purchased our breeding stock from a small farm in the White Mountains of NH. We also love to adventure in the mountains whenever we can get away. It seemed perfect to name our calves after the NH 4,000 footers. The Webb Family has hiked them all!

We’re expecting one more calf in the coming month. If you want more adorable calf pictures, follow us on Instagram and Facebook. I just can’t get enough of these fluffy calves. We look forward to warm, sunny days so we can get these gals out grazing on summer pasture!

While I’m on the subject of our beef cattle, I should let you know that we have ground beef patties, chorizo sausage, and beef hot dogs still available. We will refill our freezers in early June, but let us know now if you’re interested in certain cuts!

let us take care of your trees

Tyler has already started some Tree Care Services! We offer tree pruning, removals, cabling, and fertilization. Tyler is a certified arborist with many years of experience in the tree care industry. We are fully licensed and insured. We prioritize safety and customer service on every job.

If you are on our waitlist from last fall, you can expect a call or email to let you know where you will be on our spring/summer schedule. In the meantime, anyone with tree care needs should contact us for a free consultation and quote. We would be happy to look at your project! Keep in mind that for new projects, due to high demand, we are scheduling a month or more out, unless it is an emergency.

That’s all the updates I’ve got for now. We hope this post finds you and your family healthy. In the time it took to write this, the clouds opened up to reveal a bit of blue over the farm. Spring weather is on its way…
